PROJECT MELT WINS TCT AEROSPACE APPLICATION AWARD 2018
Project MELT goal was to design, develop and test a fully functional ALM breadboard model (3D printer), able to work under the ISS’s (International Space Station) microgravity conditions and 3D print with engineering polymers with high end mechanical and thermal properties. It was developed by an international consortium composed by SONACA Space GmbH, BEEVERYCREATIVE (tech leader), OHB-System AG and Active Space Technologies SA. Back in May 2018, BEEVERYCREATIVE revealed that the 3D printer prototype had been delivered to its end user, the European Space Agency (ESA), and at TCT award ceremony on September 26th in Birmingham UK, the project was awarded with the TCT AEROSPACE APPLICATION AWARD 2018.
Sergio Sousa Moreira, BEEVERYCREATIVE’s CMO mentioned: “We are thrilled about this award. It is a recognition of our capability for technology development and a reward for more than 2 years work on this project, together with our partners from the international consortium, SONACA Space GmbH, OHB-System AG and Active Space Technologies SA. We have learned so much from this project and in working with our partners and with the European Space Agency. 3D Printing can have a huge role in space exploration and we hope this project contributes to that”.
