Always store in an airtight container with desiccant. Nylon is very hygroscopic (absorbs water from the air).
Filkemp Nylon absorbs water at a lower rate than other nylon filaments. Nevertheless, if not correctly stored, it will eventually absorb so much water that will affect the layer adhesion and weaken the printed object. It will also ruin the surface finish. At this point the filament must be dried.
HOW DOES MOISTURE SENSITIVITY IMPACT NYLON?
NYLON is a hygroscopic material. This means that it attracts moisture from the air which can have a negative impact on the printing performance. After printing, it is strongly recommended to place the spool into a vacuum bag (without any silica*) for storage.
* More often than not silica gel sachets contain a higher ppm moisture content than the filament itself which would have a reversed effect.
All spool holders may be printed in PLA filament.
