BEEVERYCREATIVE volta a fazer parte de novo projeto para a Agência Espacial Europeia

Consórcio internacional (OHB, BEEVERYCREATIVE, Sonaca Space e Athlone – Instituto de Tecnologia da República da Irlanda) ganha contrato da Agência Espacial Europeia para desenvolver um protótipo de impressora 3D para a Estação Espacial, capaz de imprimir peças de grande dimensão em polímeros de alta performance  – Projeto Imperial

Em maio de 2018 (Comunicado de Imprensa), o projeto MELTManufacturing of Experimental Layer Technology, entregou com sucesso à Agência Espacial europeia um protótipo funcional de uma impressora 3D, capaz de imprimir peças funcionais nas condições de microgravidade da Estação Especial (ISS) com polímeros de alta performance. Este projeto foi o primeiro projeto do espaço em que a BEEVERYCREATIVE esteve envolvida e este foi desenvolvido pelo consórcio internacional composto por SONACA Space, BEEVERYCREATIVE, OHB-System e Active Space Technologies. Em setembro de 2018, o Projeto MELT ganhou o prémio internacional de melhor Aplicação Aeroespacial, da prestigiada entidade na área da impressão 3D, TCT (https://tctawards.com/tctawards/en/page/2018-winners).

Neste novo projeto chamado Imperial, e com a OHB System AG como líder do consórcio internacional, a BEEVERYCREATIVE vai mais uma vez colaborar num projeto espacial para a ESA. O objetivo do Projeto Imperial é desenhar, desenvolver e testar uma impressora 3D que cumpra os requisitos de fabricação aditiva a bordo da ISS, utilizando polímeros de alta performance e sem constrangimentos de área de impressão. Para demonstrar a funcionalidade desta impressora 3D, é necessário selecionar, imprimir e testar várias peças funcionais. As peças impressas deverão demonstrar a capacidade de produção no espaço, permitindo novas abordagens de manutenção técnica e estratégias de suporte da vida humana em voos espaciais.
