Re: Change DRV8825 to SilentStepStick TMC2208

Guys, I finally fitted 5 off 2208's. XYZ now very quiet. Only problem is Z axis travels wrong direction when homing (Z+). Have tried various inverting directions of endstops to correct but no luck. Can anyone suggest what to change in the firmware? Normal xyz axis movement by manual mode are correct...

Re: Change DRV8825 to SilentStepStick TMC2208

Mr. Doom, thanks for your reply.
If you leave the 8825 in place for the Z axis will it do any harm or overheat.
Does the 8825 function as normal even though you have the firmware set to use 2208?

Regards

Re: Change DRV8825 to SilentStepStick TMC2208

Hello, I have 3 tmc2208 to fit.
I was planning on just fitting to the X Y AXES only, and leave the original 8825 in the Z axis.
Does anyone know if this will be ok?
The firmware states 2208 all or extruder as choices.
I only want to improve xy noise.

Re: Filament jams mid print

This is a common error on the "standard settings". The best fix i found that made the biggest difference is the retract settings. retract speed = 20mm/s retract dist = 2mm IF the distance is higher this causes the filament to keep "hammering" against the hotend causing the bulbus end to block the no...
